Virtual podium for H2R Racing

H2R Racing took part in the iRacing Nurburgring 24h special event and brought home a P3 in GT4 class after battling with the competition until the final minutes of the event.

Saturday 7th of June 2025 2PM CET, our 3 drivers line up wait in anxiety for iRacing servers to sort out splits for the 1000+ teams registered. Minutes pass, and a after a slight delay the race session opens, it’s ON!

Qualifying P8/11 in a 2400 iRating strength of field, the team knows that the race result isn’t decided in turn 1.

Henning, a.k.a Driver #1, took a clean and decisive start, ensuring the team could carry on without damage, unlike part of the GT4 field.

Continuing to deliver clean and consistent laps, the team was already up a couple of positions by nightfall.

Sparks are not usually a good sign

Taking over after unfortunate connectivity issues, Adrien had contact with a faster class car, sending the #157 M4GT4 into the barrier.

Towing and repairs meant the team would have to fight twice as hard to recover the lost time…

And recovery was mighty!

By (virtual) sunrise the team was up to P5, benefiting from consistent lap times and from the misfortune of some competitors in class.

Yet, the iRacing Nurburgring 24h still had a trick up its sleeve. Rain started to fall on track with still 6h to go in the race.

Tricky conditions were no match for the experience of our drivers, and this sudden change meant the team fought back to P4, within a pitstop from a podium.
The multiple 30mns of sleepless naps paid off, and the gap to P3 had eroded as the rain stopped falling.

An early pitstop to fit slick tyres meant the team was catching up to half a minute per lap to competitors who stayed on the rain tyre.

Due to the prior incidents, 2 laps separated H2R Racing from P2, so all that was left to do was bring the car home and manage the gap to P4, which the team did brilliantly to earn a well deserved 3rd place!

RCN-GLP #2 – Rhein-Sieg

The quote of the weekend, brought to you by Therapy Lift: “History repeats itself”.

Our drivers came back to the Nordschleife for the second RCN-GLP event of the 2025 season with a thirst for victory.
This determination was already put to the test on Friday evening during technical inspection, as there was further questioning about the validity of the wheels and tyres mounted on the beautiful #157… A “déjà vu” from the first RCN-GLP technical inspection that both drivers would have happily lived without.

Following a lengthy debate about administrative procedures and the validity of the “Allgemeine Betriebserlaubnis” document, the car was eventually approved. Both drivers, still under the shock, went on to celebrate this first victory of the weekend.

The sun was shining over the Eifel on Saturday morning as our drivers lined up on the grid. Confidence was high thanks to the brand new clutch and preventative maintenance works done on car #157 ahead of the event.

Our drivers delivered a clean and consistent drive on the “Industriefahrten” layout that differed from the first event as it does not include the Nurburgring Grand-Prix track, which comes with the added difficulty of a narrow set of corners until the finish line, reducing the margin for correcting deviations in timing.

Consistency is key in RCN-GLP, and our drivers might have taken this a bit too literally, finishing 10th in the Rookie category yet again. A strong result nonetheless given the overall improvement in consistency with only 4.3 penalty points versus 6.9 in the first event. Competition was fierce, and H2R will continue to improve over the season to keep fighting for even better results!

See you at the next event in June!

First result for H2R

Saturday 29.3.2025 the Team produced its first result in RCN-GLP by completing 12 laps of the Nürburgring Nordschleife NLS variant layout according to the regulations (respecting minimum and maximum lap times)

The race weekend started with a nerve-racking technical inspection of the BMW E46 316i in which a set of documents appeared to be missing. This resulted in a heart rate of 190bpm for both drivers for a short period of time, as the documents were finally found and approved by the Technical Inspector.

Heart rates stayed high (but not too high!) for the remainder of the weekend, as the Team engaged in RCN-GLP start and successfully delivered consistent lap times, navigating through traffic and the treacherous 154 corners of the North Loop (GP track corners not counted, as they are a walk in the parc in comparison!).

With only 6.9 overall penalty points (accounted for each 1/10th of second difference with the reference lap) the Team classified 10/33 in the Rookie class, a promising result that granted each driver a beautiful trophy during the award ceremony.

The Team is grateful to its sponsor, Therapy Lift, and to the whole RCN-GLP organisation committee for this successful first race weekend! On to the next one on 12.4.2025, and looking forward to continue fighting for the highest step of the podium!
